Gadchiroli, Maharashtra: A former special police officer (SPO), who had been associated with the banned Salwa Judum, was allegedly shot dead today by Naxals in Yerkad village in Gadchiroli on the suspicion that he was working as a police informer.
A gang of armed ultras barged into the house of Dilip Narote this afternoon and shot him point black, police said.
Dilip had worked as an SPO for a CRPF battalion before Salwa Judum (civilian militia) was disbanded, police said.
He recently participated in a police recruitment drive, a police officer said.
