Rourkela:
A 26-year-old youth allegedly killed his minor nephew and a niece at Sagasahi village in Banei sub-division of Sundargarh district, about 120 km from here, police said on Wednesday.
The accused Ratan Munda, who was arrested after the incident yesterday, confessed his crime during police interrogation.
He confessed that he had committed the crime to take revenge against his elder brother and sister-in-law who had allegedly harassed him and other villagers by practicing witchcraft, the police said.
Ratan had killed his nephew Sujan (10) and niece Munguli (8) by a sharp weapon while they were asleep. His elder brother Sidhi Munda and sister-in-law were away in Keonjhar at the time of the incident.
Both Sidhi and his wife found their children lying dead in a pool of blood after they returned yesterday afternoon.
The police seized the bodies and the weapon used in the crime.
