A four-day old kid was kidnapped on Monday from Government General Hospital at Kakinada in East Godavari district, police said.
The newborn was delivered by one Devi, resident of Unduru village, four days ago. This afternoon, a 50-year-old woman took away the baby on the pretext of giving injection, but she did not return, they said.
The family members of Devi complained to the hospital authorities about the missing baby. Initial inquiry revealed that the woman was not connected to the hospital.
Police have a registered a case and launched a search for the infant.
