Noida: The Noida police have busted a gang that used to order food from pizza joints and gave out wrong addresses located at isolated spots. They then beat up the delivery boys and decamped with the order.
After several cases were reported in the NCR town, the Noida police busted a gang who ordered pizza from an outlet located at Shoprix mall. They furnished a fake address of some apartment in Sector 24. When the boy went to deliver the pizza, four men caught him while he was searching for the address and beat him up. They snatched the pizza from him and try to flee. Acting swiftly, the delivery boy chased the gang and with the help of some local residents managed to overpower them. Later all the accused were handed over the police.
A senior police official from sector 24 police station said, "The incident occurred last Sunday at around 11 in the night. This is a new trend. However in most of the cases, we do not receive any kind of complaints."
"Generally those involved in these kinds of burglaries are outstation students belonging to different private and public universities located in Noida and Greater Noida. The calls are generally made between 10-11 in the night when the roads are isolated and a few employees working with such outlets also work hand-in-glove with the gang. In most of the cases students do it for fun and are often drunk," the officer pointed out.
The food joints have also complained to the mall authorities in the recent past. Vikas Tyagi, a manager at Shoprix mall, confirmed receiving over a dozen complaints in the last two months.
