Mumbai:
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Women's Wing has started the hunt for the best chef from Mumbai, with the aim of making people familiar with Maharashtrian cuisine.
"Maharashtrian cuisine ranges from vegetarian and kosher meals to coastal and non-vegetarian varieties. The meals from different states, ranging from the North to the Southern belt, have gained prominence, but the Maharashtrian cuisine has always remained unexplored," Shalini Thackeray, Vice-President of MNS Women's Wing, said.
The four-day initiative kick started in 36 zones of Mumbai here yesterday. The competition will showcase participation of women from across the state showcasing their cooking talent. The event is an attempt to make Mumbai familiar to the authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, she said. During April 25-29, participants from Vidarbha and Marathwada regions would showcase their talent, she said.
The women participating in the competition will be judged by renowned chefs from city-based hotels. The primary round of the competition will comprise of women being asked to produce home-made delicacies, she said.
The semi-final round of the competition will comprise shortlisting five winners from each zone who in turn will compete for the final round.
"As a token of our appreciation, the winner of the competition will be rewarded with household products at the hands of Sharmila, wife of MNS chief Raj Thackeray," Shalini said.
