Bolangir (Orissa):
A police officer allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train at Salepalli unmanned level-crossing under Bolangir-Deogan section of East Coast Railway near Bolangir, police said on Wednesday.
Deba Mahakud, officiating ASI of Khaprakhol police station in Bolangir district, took the drastic step on Tuesday allegedly due to family problem, Srikant Mishra, Bolangir additional superintendent of police, said.
Mahakud was transferrd to Khaprakhol after being promoted to the rank of ASI and was on leave since last two months, Mishra said.
The body was sent for post-mortem and inquiry was continuing, he added.
