Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease occurring in tropical and subtropical areas.

At least 333 people in Dehradun have tested positive of dengue, Uttarakhand health department officials said today.
Till date, the disease has claimed one life. Dehradun CMO Dr YS Thapaliyal said of the 4,091 suspected dengue cases in the last two months, 333 tested positive of the disease.
He said patients are receiving treatment and 90 per cent of them are showing signs of speedy recovery.
Fogging is being carried out across the city and people are being made aware about precautionary measures, he said.
The CMO said there has been one dengue death. Raja Das (10) succumbed to the disease on August 15, he said.
