Paragliding banned in Mumbai for 15 days

Mumbai: Last week, the Home Ministry said it had received intelligence inputs that the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is training suicide attackers to use paragliders in India. Sources say the LeT has reportedly bought 50 paragliders recently in Europe.

In addition to banning the sport in Mumbai, the police has also asked all buildings to close their terraces to the public for a fortnight.

In the run-up to Republic Day, the government has also warned airports and airlines that terrorists may try to hijack a plane in India or flying to or from neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
