Patna:
Patna's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Traffic, Sashi Bhushan Sharma, was shot at and critically injured by unknown gunmen at posh Chajjubagh locality in the heart of the town on Tuesday night, ADGP P K Thakur said.
Gunmen fired at Sharma when he was returning to his residence in Chajjubagh from his office.
A profusely bleeding Sharma was taken to Patna Medical College Hospital where he was being operated upon, Thakur said.
Sharma was earlier posted as DSP (law and order) in the capital.
Senior police officials including Director General of Police Neelmani, DIG Patna Vineet Vinayak, Special Superintendent of Police B S Meena rushed to the hospital.
All entry and exit points of the state capital have been sealed following the incident and combing operations launched to nab the attackers.
