Police bust prostitution racket, rescue 17 sex workers

Hyderabad: Task Force officials in Hyderabad rescued 17 sex workers - including one foreign national - and arrested 16 pimps after busting a prostitution racket on Thursday.

As part of a special drive to curb the menace of prostitution, Task Force sleuths conducted raids under the limits of S R Nagar, Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills police stations and some hotels and registered 15 cases, Task Force DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy said.

Chandrasekhar Reddy alias Chandu and 15 other pimps were operating brothels at different posh localities in Hyderabad and arranged sex workers through cell phones calls from across Andhra Pradesh besides Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and foreign countries like Morocco, the senior police official said.

The organisers are employing sex workers on weekly or monthly basis through contract, he said. Further investigations were on.
