Police Complaint Against Man For Circulating Morphed Photo Of PM Modi On WhatsApp

Thane: A 25-year-old man from Bhayander has been booked for allegedly posting objectionable morphed pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and circulating it on WhatsApp, police said on Wednesday.

Based on a complaint filed by a VHP activist Vinod Shinde, an offence was registered against the accused in Bhayander police station.

The accused has been booked under IPC section 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc).

According to a police officer from Bhayander police station, between October 10 and 13, the accused had sent the morphed images of the PM on WhatsApp to the complainant.

The accused has also been booked under IPC sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) police said adding that no arrest was made in connection with the incident.

"By posting the objectionable picture on social media, the accused had attempted to create enmity among members of the society," the complaint said.

Further probe into the incident was on and no arrest has been made so far in connection, the officer said.
