Bangalore: A Bangalore court has sentenced Shiva Kumar to life in prison for raping and murdering 28-year-old Pratibha Murthy, a BPO employee.
Earlier this week, a judge accepted the evidence against Kumar, a cab driver.
In 2005, Shiva Kumar showed up to collect Pratibha from her home in Bangalore for the night shift at the call centre where she worked. He told her that the driver rostered for that night was on leave, and that he was the replacement. He then took her to a deserted area on the outskirts of Bangalore and raped and killed her.
Pratibha's 80-year-old mother has been fighting for justice.
