Aligarh:
He was filmed, allegedly by students, while having consensual sex with another man in his home on campus at the Aligarh Muslim University.
The film was circulated among university authorities. Professor Srinivas Ramchandra Siras was then suspended, accused of "gross misconduct" and an inquiry was ordered against him.
Dr Siras took his case to the Allahabad High Court, arguing that the cameras placed in his home without his knowledge were an invasion of his privacy. He also said the action taken against him by the university violates the recent court order that has decriminalized homosexuality.
Now, Dr Siras has won a reprieve with the Allahabad High Court staying his suspension. This means he can go back to work. The court, however, has not given its opinion on the departmental inquiry ordered against him.
