Pune: Chennatha Subrayadu Khambala (30), a resident of Sanjeevani building in Akurdi, has lodged a complaint with the Chinchwad police, stating that an unidentified person attempted to conduct illegally an online transfer of Rs92,500 from his account at ICICI Bank, Chinchwad branch between 4 pm and 5 pm on Sunday.
According to the police, Khambala immediately sent an email to the bank, following which the transaction was blocked. Police inspector SM Joshi, the investigating officer in the case, said the police have approached the bank with the complaint.
"We have started investigation to find out the source of the fraud and who was behind the illegal transfer of money," said Joshi. He appealed to citizens to exercise due diligence in ensuring that they kept their Internet banking password a secret as it was susceptible to online frauds and phising activities.
