Pune:
The Pune police's special branch on Sunday detained a person, Dattatray Namdeo Mohite (20) of Solapur, possessing the police uniform with black jacket at the Pune Railway Station.
The police said he might have cheated some people in the city posing himself as a policeman. They have appealed to citizens to inform them if anybody was duped by the man posing as a policeman.
Police inspector Raghunath Jadhav of special branch told DNA that they found Mohite moving suspiciously at the railway station. They checked his bag and found the police uniform and the black jacket. He could not explain properly why he carried the uniform.
Jadhav said he initially said the uniform belonged to his brother, a policeman, attached with the Faraskhana police station. When they asked him to contact his brother, Mohite said he was attached with the Solapur police. Then they took him to the police commissionerate.
During the interrogation, he disclosed that he had gone for a police recruitment test but could not be selected.
