Pune:
Imagine you ask a waiter for a glass of water and get thrashed in return. Vishal Zanje, Kiran Wakadkar and Sameer Thakar said this is what happened to them when they went to eat at a hotel in Pune.
"The waiter was already having an argument with the people sitting nearby. We called the waiter for water. He came and hit Sameer with his leg, taking out his anger on him," said Santosh Thakar, brother of Sameer.
Santosh said that when they went to the manager to tell him about what the waiter did, they were told to get out of the restaurant. Then, they were called back in to the restaurant. They alleged Yogesh Sapal and Ganesh Sapal, the sons of the owner, came in a Swift and beat them up.
The police reached the spot and took the three injured friends to Nigdi Lokmanya Hospital.
"The police did not file the complaint and are taking no action against them (the Sapals) since they have contacts," said Santosh. "The police brought a statement letter which was written by them but I refused to sign on it. I told them we would file our own complaint."
The hotel owners or management were not immediately available for comment.
