Pune: Suspect turns approver in Nayana Pujari rape & murder case

Pune: Principal district judge Madan Joshi on Wednesday directed that the confession of Rajesh Pandurang Choudhari, one of the suspects in the Nayana Pujari gang rape and murder case be recorded on October 11. Choudhari has turned approver.

The Bombay high court, on Monday, had dismissed a plea filed by Mahesh Balasaheb Thakur, the other suspect in the case, seeking quashing of the Pune court's order permitting Choudhari to become an approver.

Judge Joshi ordered that Choudhari be produced before judicial magistrate (first class) SM Padolikar on October 11 for recording of his confession.

Nayana Pujari (28), a resident of Katraj, was gang-raped and murdered on October 7 last year allegedly by Yogesh Ashok Raut (24), Choudhari (23) and Thakur (24) of Khed taluka and Vishwas Hindurao Kadam (26) of Dighigaon.

The suspects are cab drivers and a security guard who worked for the firm that employed the victim.
