Pune: Woman decamps with gold ornaments

Pune: In a strange case, a 22-year-old unidentified woman looted a 26-year-old woman after knocking her unconscious using chloroform. The suspect decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs34,000 that she was wearing.

The incident took place on Raut Bagh in Dhankavdi in front of Shirolkar clinic around 12.30 pm on Tuesday. The victim, Manisha Shivaji Katurde of Dhankavdi, lodged a complaint with the Sahakarnagar police station. The police have booked the unidentified suspect under section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc. with intent to commit an offence) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

According to the police, Katurde and her two sons were walking to a school to attend a meeting when she saw three coloured paper packets lying on the road.

When the victim picked up the packets, the suspect appeared on the scene and started questioning her before covering the victim's face with a handkerchief laced with chloroform. She later fled with the gold ornaments worn by the victim. The hapless sons, both minors, could not do much to counter the suspect.
