Jaipur: "Many of the accused were found indulging in illicit activities when the raid was conducted," Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranu Sharma said.
The women had allegedly been brought from Bhopal, Delhi, Neemuch, Mumbai, Agra, and Ahmedabad, and each was paid between Rs 4,000 and Rs 15,000. The arrested men include marble and cloth businessmen from Gujarat and Rajasthan, the police said.
Hotel owner Pankaj Bansal managed to escape but his wife Nilima was arrested. The police have reportedly recovered a huge amount of cash from her.
Police raids at a heritage hotel near Udaipur in Rajasthan have allegedly exposed a sex racket involving businessmen. 80 people, including 16 women, were arrested on Sunday from the resort on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway.
After receiving a tip-off, the police sent two constables to the Udai Palace Hotel and Resorts. The policemen masqueraded as customers who paid Rs 4000 each to enter the hotel.
They allegedly found that hotel had various rates for rooms and also sent sex workers to interested customers. The police then raided the hotel late on Sunday night.
