Vijayawada: A booking clerk at Vijayawada railway station was suspended on Thursday for hitting a woman passenger.
Government Railway Police (GRP) said that while booking clerk Mohan Rao was on duty at the Vijayawada Railway station, a woman Passenger K Varalakshmi asked him to issue a ticket to Srikakulam by by-passing the queue.
He asked her to stand in queue but she said she could not for some reasons. After some arguments, Rao hit on her face with a wooden plate and she sustained injuries.
Later, she was shifted to government hospital. After taking the treatment, she came back to railway station and complained to police.
Even as the Police registered the case, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager suspended Mohan Rao, sources said.
