Mumbai: A railway employee has been arrested for allegedly raping his colleague repeatedly and extorting money from her after threatening to make public her objectionable photographs, police said.
Anil Modagil (45), working as assistant in confidential branch of Railway department in Mumbai, had been sexually abusing the 46-year-old victim since 2007 whenever she was alone at home, police said, adding he was arrested on Saturday.
Modagil, who is married and also stays in the Railway quarters, took photographs of the victim in compromising position when he first sexually abused her, they said.
The victim has a son and her husband is also Railway employee, police said.
Modagil blackmailed the victim and started regularly visiting her and raped her, police said. He had also extorted money from her.
He would threaten to show the pictures to her husband and others if she did not obey his orders.
"The accused had bought a flat for which he needed money. He extorted about Rs 4.50 lakh from the victim over a period of time. The victim and accused have been staying in the same colony for over five years," said M P Choudhary,

The accused was booked under sections 376 (Rape), 384 (extortion) and 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.
