Dehradun: After a brief let-up in cold wave conditions in Uttarakhand, snowfall in the higher reaches and rains at most places in the plains on Thursday led to a sharp drop in temperature with the maximum in the city plunging by over seven degrees celsius.
The sun remained hidden throughout the day in the state capital which received 10.1 mm of rain and saw the maximum dive to 16 degrees celsius from Wednesday's 23.2 degrees C, the MeT office said.
Tehri received 11.6 mm of rains while areas located in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudrapur and Bageshwar districts received fresh snowfall, it said, predicting similar weather conditions in the state over the next few days.
Rain and snowfall at places and isolated hailstorm and squalls are likely to take place over the next 24 hours, the weatherman said.
