Raipur:
A two-year-old girl was mauled to death by stray dogs in Devendra Nagar in Raipur, police said today.
The baby's mutilated body was spotted by passers-by yesterday near Pandri Haat market here where her family was staying in an under-construction shop, police said
The child's parents - Rajesh Vishwakarma and Reshma - who are construction labourers were fast asleep along with their two children in the shop in the wee hours yesterday, they said.
Police suspect that since the shutter of the shop was a little open, either the stray dogs apparently sneaked inside or the infant moved out from there, said police.
Later, she was dragged about 500 metres from the place and mauled to death. The body bore dog bite marks all over, police said.
A case has been registered in this connection, they said adding that further investigation is on.
