Raipur:
Two persons, including a woman, died on the spot and four others were injured as a mini goods transport vehicle they were travelling was knocked down by a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Chhattisgarh's Balod district on Sunday, police said.
The mishap occurred at Pararas about a kilometre away from the Balod railway station on Dillirajhara-Durg rail route at the unmanned railway crossing, Balod Superintendent of Police Ramgopal Garg told PTI.
According to the officer, the vehicle was loaded with vegetables and carrying three women and three men who were heading towards Balod to sell the vegetables.
At the unmanned railway crossing, it rammed into Dallirajhra-Durg passenger train.
Entangled with the train, the ill-fated vehicle was dragged up to one kilometer, he said.
The driver of the vehicle and a woman died on the spot, while four others suffered serious injuries in the accident, he said.
The injured were rushed to Balod district hospital, where after first aid, one of them has been referred to Durg district hospital, he said.
On getting information, a team of Railway officers reached the site and track clearance work was underway, he said.
