Rajahmundry: Inter-state flesh trade racket busted

Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh): East Godavari District police busted an inter-state women smuggling racket as they arrested four persons.

Efforts are on to arrest another eight persons, involved in the racket in Dubai, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Eluru Range, Mahesh M Bhagavat said on Sunday.

Bhagavat said that after a credible information provided by three women victims of the region, who came from Dubai with help of Indian the police raided the house and seized fake passports and arrested the four persons on Saturday.

They are involved in the racket and police have collected information from them, he said.

"We are making efforts to arrest another eight persons including agents and its chief and others in Dubai," the DIG added. The gang was attracting minor girls by promising to provide jobs in Dubai, he said, adding that the gang used to transport girls from the district to Bangalore, where their head office is situated. From Bangalore, the gang sent the girls to Dubai, the DIG added.

The gang has agents in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala. The gang lures girls from these states and send them to Dubai on fake passports to run brothel in the country, he said.

According to Bhagvat, chief of the gang Abdul Ahmed Omar Abbas, who is running the brothel office in Dubai, belongs to Karnataka. The DIG said that he has requested the Hyderabad police to send a 'Red Corner' notice to CBI office in Delhi to take necessary action. The police have alerted all airports in the country to stop women trafficking to Dubai from the southern states.

He said, "We will take the help of Interpol police to arrest the eight persons and their chief who are running their brothel business in Dubai and release the minor girls and women who are in the clutches of the gang.

The DIG congratulated Mandapeta police for busting the gang's activities and arresting the four persons. The District Superintendent of Police Y Nagi Reddy said, "We are making all efforts to arrest the remaining eight persons and release minor girls from their clutches. We are taking all necessary steps to stop this racket in the district and alerted the police in the district to make a thorough search on the movement of passport agents in the district," he added.

One of the victims released from the clutches of the gang said, more than 50 to 60 girls are in their (gang) clutches in Dubai. Most of them belong to Rajahmundry region.

"They forced us into prostitution. They force each one of us to satisfy at least 50 persons. If we do not follow their words, they would not serve food and beat severely," she said.

"They are running the brothel on the outskirts of the Dubai city. Their agents will bring customers to the brothel," she said.
