Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu):
A missing teenaged school student in Rameswaram was kidnapped by a gang for ransom but they abandoned him in Madurai after he told them he was the son of a labourer.
Muthuvel, a class XI student of a school here, left in lurch with no money to return home was brought back here by his parents today after they were informed about his plight by a passenger, who had identified the boy after noticing a 'missing boy' advertisement in newspaper, police said.
The boy went missing after he left the school on November 12 and both his parents and the school lodged a complaint.
The gang had dragged the boy into the car and drugged him with chloroform. When the boy woke up on reaching Madurai, the gang members asked him about his father.
They were annoyed when the boy said his father was 'a coolie' and left him at the Madurai bus stand, asking him to go to Rameswaram by himself.
