Ranchi: Eight people of a marriage party died after they were crushed by a truck in Jharkhand's coal city Dhanbad, police said on Saturday.
According to police, the marriage of Anup Singh, a resident of Jamshedpur, was to take place on Friday night in Dhanbad district.
The marriage party members were staying at a hotel.
The guests attending the marriage were going to Mr Singh's house when a truck ran over 11 of them.
Five people died on the spot and three have been admitted in a hospital. The condition of three is said to be serious.
The truck, after crushing them, drove on for another 500 meters. The truck driver managed to escape.
