Mumbai:
The residents of Koparkhairane in Navi Mumbai are facing parking-related problems because of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's (NMMC) ongoing work on road connecting D-Mart Chowk to Teen Tanki.
The corporation initiated the concretisation work and laying of sewage pipelines last week. However, in the wake of commencement of the same, residents of the societies along the road are facing problems related to parking.
"Due to the work, those who have parked their bikes/cars within campus of a society are not able to take the same out of the building area as work is going exactly outside the complex. While those who had their vehicles out prior to beginning of the work have been compelled to park their bikes/cars somewhere else," one of the residents said on condition of anonymity.
According to another resident, the work was expected to last for at least few weeks, which will only add to their problems. "Had it been a case of two or three days, I would have used mass transportation. But the current work is likely to go on for at least two-three weeks. For these many days, I am likely to face the inconvenience," he concluded.
Some residents in the area though differed with their counterparts. "These are all developmental works carried out by the civic body. I can adjust for some days until the work is completed," said Kamlesh Rao.
A Koparkhairane ward official said that the work would go on for next 15 days. "We understand residents have been facing problems, but these are temporary issues as once these works are complete, the residents will not face any such problem for at least next 20 years," he said and appealed people to cooperate.
