Rewari: There is uneasy calm in Haryana's Rewai after clashes between farmers and the police on Sunday following massive protests against the state government's land acquisition policy.
More than two dozen people, including several policemen, were injured in the violence.
The clashes started when the police resorted to a lathicharge and used water cannons to disperse the farmers who had blocked the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway.
The protesters turned violent and set a government bus and five other government vehicles on fire. The police later opened fire as protesters targeted police officers.
The farmers are demanding that the cases against them be withdrawn and they are also refusing to part with their lands.
