Jalandhar: Unidentified robbers struck at the branch of a nationalised bank in Jalandhar in Punjab and decamped with valuables by breaking as many as 40 lockers, police said today.
The robbers entered the Reru branch of Punjab and Sind Bank by breaking the lock at the main gate, and then dismantled the lockers with the help of gas cutters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarabjeet Singh said.
The bank management came to know about the heist this morning after which the police was informed, Mr Singh said.
The bank staff is making a list of the looted valuables, he said, adding that investigations into the matter are on.
