Orrisa: Sundargarh district consumer forum has found a Rajgangpur based doctor guilty of providing quality treatment to an expecting other leading to her death.
The forum also ordered the doctor to pay rupees one lakh to the victim's husband within a month, failing which he has to pay twelve percent interest on the amount.
Forum president Md.Inkilab and member Snehalata Pate considering the complaint of victim's husband, 25-year-old Binod Kumar Singh passed the judgement holding Asha Kiran Kujur guilty on Wednesday .
Binod had admitted his wife, Meera Singh, at the nursing home under direct supervision of Dr Asha Kiran Kujur on July 20,2009 as Meera was undergoing pre-natal treatment in the nursing home.
Dr Kujur assured them of a safe delivery when the couple approached the doctor for shifting Meera to a Rourkela based nursing home when the delivery could not be made even two days after the expected date.
Dr. Kujur re-questioned a team of doctors and arranged for delivery in the operation theatre. But Meera's condition deteriorated after she was given an anti-biotic injection and died soon after in the nursing home.
