Rs 11 lakh missing from ATM, two bank officials suspended

Balasore: Cash to the tune of Rs 11 lakh went missing from the ATM of United Bank of India (UBI) branch at Jaleswar, about 60 km from here, after which two bank officials were suspended.
    
"Though the case of missing money came to our knowledge two days back, it was confirmed today after a team of high-level bank officials from Bhubaneswar reached the bank and started investigation," said a bank official.
     
Chief Regional Manager of UBI Rajesh Kumar said "two officials of the branch, Manager Sukadev Baril and Deputy Manager Govind Prasad Chand, have been placed under suspension."
    
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jaleswar said "a case has been registered against two bank officials on the basis of a complaint lodged by Arabinda Das, Chief Manager of UBI, Bhubaneswar, on Thursday and investigation has been started in this regard."
