Noida:
A Rs 380-crore security and surveillance plan for Noida and other areas of Gautam Budh Nagar district, reeling under a rising crime graph, was appproved on Wednesday which includes installing CCTV cameras.
"A 620 kilometer network will be set up as part of the integrated command, control, communications, computer and information security and surveillance system," Mohinder Singh, Chairman of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities, told reporters here.
He was speaking after consulting company Ernest & Young gave a presentation before the Board of the three authorities and police officers.
Under the plan approved by the Board, 10 crossings and 17 border points have been identified where CCTV cameras with night vision will be installed.
"Beside this, a total 1,150 cameras will be installed at various places in the city.
"A control room will be set up in Sector 44 at Noida Authority's proposed office," said Singh.
The project will be commissioned in 18 months and the tender process will start from April.
A private company will be given the project on turn basis for seven years. It will employ 150 technically qualified staff and train the police, administration and Authority personnel.
"After seven years, the project will be handed over to Noida," said Singh.
"The cost of the project and maintenance costs will be borne by all the three authorities," said Singh, adding the project will be developed in phases.
Within six months, a major part of Noida will be covered followed by Greater Noida areas. "The first phase is expected to be completed by December 2011 and project which will cost a total of Rs 380 crore will be concluded by 2012 end," said Singh.
