Thane: An RTI activist has been shot dead at Virar in the district, police said today.
The activist Premkumar Jha (45), who had sought details about construction activities in the Vasai-Virar belt, was shot on Friday at Gurudatt Nagar while he was on his motorcycle, they said.
He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, police said.
Jha's son Mihir filed a complaint with the Virar police station, following which a murder case has been registered against an unidentified person, police said, adding that further investigations are on.
