Kochi: A woman, whose husband died in Sabarimala due to a heart attack while on pilgrimage in Sabrimala, filed a petition before the Kerala High Court on Wednesday seeking compensation for the death. Udayakumar, a resident of Sivakasi, had died on July 16.
Udayakumar's wife Pandilakshmi alleged that the death was caused due to the negligence on part of the authorities, including the Travancore Devaswom Board and the state government.
The petitioner argued that her husband died during the journey at Marakoottam between Pampa and Sabarimala. Inaction on the part of the authorities is a violation of the fundamental rights, she said. The petitioner has sought a compensation of Rs 2,50,000.
