Lonavala: At least 17 school children were injured after a school bus hit a road divider and overturned near the Amrutanjan Bridge between Lonavala and Khandala late on Wednesday night, the police said.
A female teacher accompanying the students and the driver of the vehicle also suffered critical injuries, police said.
The bus, which was travelling from Kolhapur to Thane after a picnic, belongs to the Universal School in Thane and had 44 children, students of class IV and V on board at the time of the incident.
The injured have been admitted to hospitals at Nigadi and Khopoli. The police have asked family members of the victims to contact them on the following helplines: 9011280777 and 9823426703.
