Surat: In a bizarre display, students between 10 and 14 years of age walked on broken glass pieces and fire as part of a school function in Surat, Gujarat, recently.
The Riverdell School had organised the show as a Hostel Day event and there were parents present in the audience.
The dangerous performance was described by Mahesh Patel, the school administrator, as "a scientific experiment to boost self-confidence among children."
"We had organised two Hostel day celebrations and lot of stunts were performed on the day. However, this was not part of those activities," he added.
It clearly was not working though, with some of the young children reluctant to walk on the glass pieces and fire.
