Kotdwara, Uttaranchal:
A teacher was allegedly beaten up by the locals of Kanskhet village near Kotdwara after he was accused of molesting a school girl following which a case has been registered against him, officials said.
The incident took place on September 25 when Vijay Pal (52), a teacher at Government High School in Simarkhal was driving to Pauri and two girls from Government Inter College Kanskhet asked him for a lift.
Pal obliged but later stopped the car at an isolated place and allegedly molested one of the girls, they said.
The other student, immediately called up her fellow students and informed them about the incident.
Following the information, the students and villagers intercepted the car at Kanskhet and thrashed the teacher. He was later handed over to the revenue police.
A case in this regard has been registered on behalf of the Principal of the government college, Nayab Tahsildar JP Gaud said.
