Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh:
A class 8 student was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district for allegedly killing his classmate to get his funky mobile phone to listen to Bollywood songs stored in the phone, according to the police.
Manish, 16, (not his real name) a student of Mahant Shivdas Vidyalaya, slit the throat of his classmate Munna (not his real name), also aged around 16 years. Under the law, both the attacker and the killed being juveniles, cannot be named.
Munna's body was recovered on January 6 from the shrubs in Para village.
"During an enquiry, it was revealed that Munna was last seen with his friend Manish on the outskirts of the village. We interrogated Manish Sunday evening when he admitted to killing Munna to get his mobile phone for listening to songs," Additional SP city Amit Verma told reporters Monday in Azamgarh district.
"We have recovered the knife used in the murder. As the accused is a minor, he will be presented before the juvenile court and could later be sent to a juvenile home," Verma added, declining to comment further.
According to police, Manish took Munna from his house Jan 6 on the pretext of discussing something.
