Six children are reportedly in critical condition after their school bus hit a tree 15 kilometres outside Bhopal.
The driver was allegedly on his mobile phone when he drove the bus into a tree in Islamnagar.
A doctor at the hospital where the children were rushed says, "20 children were brought here; of them, 6 are critical, another 12-14 have minor injuries on their hands, feet and heads."
Lokesh, who was among the students on the bus, says "the driver's cell phone rang, he answered it, and then we hit a tree."
PTI adds:
According to initial reports, the mishap may have occurred due to failure of brakes or after a tyre got punctured, Gunga Police Station House Officer Alok Shrivastava said.
A case has been registered and the bus has been impounded, Shrivastava added.
