Nearly 24 hours after a man attacked a distant relative of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, the Mumbai police are still clueless as to who the culprit could be. and don't even have the sketch of the accused.
Seventeen-year-old Payal Gupte was attacked outside Mithibai College in Juhu on Sunday night. According to police officials, Payal was coming out of the college gate after attending a festival at 9 pm. She was accompanied by three friends when an unidentified man hit her on the head and back with a rod.
Investigating officials detained one Bacchu Yadav from Nehru Nagar but had to let him go when Payal clarified that he was not the attacker.
Police officials are now forming a special team to nab the accused, as the crime branch is also carrying out a parallel investigation in the case.
