Indore : A 70-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by unidentified persons in Indore on Sunday, police said.
Omprakash Neria was a former cashier of a bank, city police superintendent Amarendra Singh said.
As per the preliminary investigations, the victim had first been shot dead, following which his head was smashed with stones, so that he could not be identified, he said.
Close to his body, a bullet shell was also found, Mr Singh said, adding that the reason behind his murder was yet to be known.
