New Delhi: 48 hours after they were hailed across the country as heroines for fighting alleged molesters on a bus in Haryana, another video of a pair of sisters shows them beating up a young man who allegedly harassed them in a public park.
Arti and Pooja Kumar, aged 22 and 19, have been showered with praise since a video went viral on Sunday showing them thrashing three men on a bus in their hometown of Rohtak. The sisters, using their belts and their hands, were seen attacking the men who were also grabbing and shoving other women in the aisle while other passengers looked on, a point that has triggered national outrage.
The three men seen in that video - shot on a cellphone on Friday by a pregnant woman who was a passenger on the bus - have been arrested by the police.
The footage of the sisters punishing the man who taunted them in a park is a month old, said the sisters to NDTV.
"I'm in the news so these videos are now coming out... These videos must have been shot by passers-by who might have been worried about my safety," Pooja told NDTV today.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar has announced a cash reward for the women of 31,000 rupees each, saying he hoped the publicity would sensitise others to the issue. The sisters will also be honoured with an award by the government on Republic Day.
