She appeared in board exam with three-day-old baby

Krishnagar, West Bengal: A woman gave birth to her baby after appearing in Bengali paper of Madhyamik (class-X) board examination on Friday and two-days later she took the English paper with her baby girl in Nadia district.

Saraswati Halder, a student of Bhajanghat High School in Nadia district sat for English paper at Majdia Shib Mohini Kanya Vidyapith, the centre of her Madhyamik examination with her daughter yesterday, Headmaster of the school Krishnapada Dutta said.

"I told the authorities that Saraswati would go for exams with her baby and requested the authorities to help her," Dutta said.

The examination centre authorities provided her a separate room and her mother-in-law Anima Halder was allowed to sit beside her with the baby on lap.

Anju Chatterjee, the centre in-charge said, "We were ready to provide her 15 minutes more time than her scheduled time but she wrote her answer script within scheduled time."

Halder said, "I have been preparing for the examination since long and that was the reason that I appeared for the examination. If I had not appeared for the examination then I would have lost one valuable year."
