Mumbai: A shoot at sight order has been passed by the divisional commercial manager of the railways after yesterday's Solapur heist. The order states that if dacoits, robbers or thugs enter a running train to rob the passengers, the deployed railway personnel could shoot them.
The order has been issued after last night's robbery where dacoits entered the Pune-SolapurHutatma Express and robbed the passengers of valuables worth Rs. 6 lakh. The incident took place on Sunday evening between Pune and Kuruwadi stations in Solapur district of Maharashtra.
The passengers on the train alleged that the constables on the train were drunk and made no attempt to stop the robbers.
Two railway police constables have been taken into custody and the matter is being probed.
