Shyam Wardhane new Nagpur civic chief

Nagpur: IAS officer Shyam Wardhane on Friday took over the reins of Nagpur Municipal Corporation from his predecessor Sanjeev Jaiswal.

Mr Wardhane, who hails from the Orange City itself, was district collector of Sangli before being transferred to Nagpur. He took the charge from district collector Saurabh Rao who was holding the additional responsibility after municipal commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal was shifted to Aurangabad.

The post was lying vacant for about two months and a petition was also filed in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court seeking directions to the state government to expedite the appointment of new commissioner.

Mr Wardhane had worked with Cidco and other urban development departments in his previous stints.
