Dehradun: In a horrific case of rash driving in Dehradun, a speeding Skoda ran over two minor school girls - six and nine-years-old. The younger one died on the spot, while the older sister is in hospital struggling for her life.
The children were crossing the road on their way to school with their mother.
"The car was really far away. We thought we would manage to cross, but the minute the children turned, the car rammed into them. It was going really very fast. The children had got to the corner of the road and then he hit them," said Rukmani, victim's mother.
The man driving the car is the son of former state BJP minister Umesh Aggarwal.
Police have registered a case for involuntary man slaughter, negligent and rash driving, but in just a couple of hours he was out on bail.
"I was returning from somewhere. A city bus was parked on the road and suddenly two kids came running from behind the bus and they got hit by my car. I then took them to the hospital," said Umesh.
