Jamshedpur:
Three people were killed after being allegedly hit by a speeding car at Dhatkidih in Jamshedpur on Tuesday night.
One person died at the spot, while the other two, identified as Asraf Khan and Zaheed Alam, were rushed to the Tata Main Hospital, where they succumbed to injuries on Wednesday.
A mob, enraged by the incident, set the car on fire. They alleged that the car was involved in a race, and the driver had lost control over the speeding vehicle and crushed the three men standing on the roadside.
A large number of people had assembled on the spot and torched the car, police said.
However, the two occupants of the car managed to escape, they added.
Senior Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha admitted that the enraged mob had set the car involved in the accident on fire. However, he denied any car racing behind the incident.
