Gurgaon:
It was meant to be a test drive but ended up destroying a family.
47-year-old Avinash Shah was taking his family out for a Christmas party when a speeding Audi hit his car. Shah died on the spot but his wife and child survived.
Avinash, a merchant navy officer, had come home for a vacation.
"It looks like the Audi was travelling at a very high speed. It just knocked off the Santro which went rolling in the air 3-4 times and fell upside down. The bystanders turned the car and then took the body out," says Raj Agarwal, victim's cousin.
According to the police, an employee of the showroom in Gurgaon was also in the car when that fatal accident occurred.
A day after the accident, the accused, a businessman, was arrested for negligent driving. But he was soon out on bail.
If convicted, he faces a maximum punishment of two years. But for the Shah family, that will mean little.
