Srivilliputhur:
A sessions court in Srivilliputhur has sentenced a man to two terms of life imprisonment for
murdering his two minor daughters last year, suspecting the fidelity of his wife.
Judge S Krishnamurthy, who delivered the verdict, said the sentences would run concurrently.
The prosecution said the accused used to frequently quarrel with his wife, an Insurance agent, suspecting her fidelty as she was friendly with some men.
After one such quarrel, the woman left for her brother's house. When he went there to call her back, she threw the mangalsutra at him but later accompanied him back.
Irked by her behaviour, the man mixed pesticide in a beverage and gave it to his daughters, aged 11 and seven.
Though the children were hospitalised on March 30 last year, they died without responding to treatment the same day.
